Gearing up for Spring

Thanks to this very enthusiastic little girl,
my garden isn't what it's used to.

Roses have been chomped. Hydrangeas ripped out!
Grass is slowing starting to look better.

It's all a tradeoff. My love of animals vs. my love of gardening.
She will be turning 1 soon.

I'm hoping to get my garden back in shape, but until then
I will dream of the beauty that once was (and will be again).

Here are some gorgeous garden shots to drool over.

Hazel would be in 'doggy heaven' in this garden. Roses for days.

The California weather has been beautiful the last few days. It's left me longing for Spring as it always does. I want so desperately to get out in my garden. The wind has been whipping, so it will have to wait.

I stumbled across these AMAZING Hydrangea cupcakes. I found so many different styles and colors. What a fun project to do inside if the weather won't allow you to go outside.
Almost too pretty to eat!

As much as I love Spring and seeing my garden come to life, I know all good things come to those who wait. Until then I'll just put more and more blossoms in my dolls hair.

Next to Spring, Fall is my favorite time of year. Although in California a blurry line is drawn between the seasons, I still love seeing the pumpkins on the porches and the leaves slowing starting to fall from the trees.

This is my busiest time of year. Not only with the shop, but with the kids, school, family...you name it. I won't get the opportunity to blog as much as I would like. We are slowly getting ready for Halloween in this house, my all time favorite holiday. I need to remind myself on a daily basis to stop, look around and appreciate everything I see. I know we are blessed in many ways. Wishing all my friends, family and those who stumble accross my blog, MANY FALL BESSINGS!

Sometimes I feel I was born in the wrong era... but none the less, here I am. I think that's why most of my creations just can't escape the days of yesteryear.

I've been working so hard lately. It's been a whirlwind month. With the kids going back to school, baseball, soccer, my own school schedule...YIKES! It's these times that really make me appreciate the simplicity of life long before I ever entered this world.

Even on those 'crazier than crazy' days I know that I am blessed. I hope you feel the same :)

Awwwwww..... little LILY! What a beautiful name. Absolutely perfect for this gorgeous mix of vintage reproduction 1930's floral prints and current checks and polka dots. I love Pottery Barn Kids, that's no secret. When given the opportunity to create a custom pillow and owl based on their HAYLEY BEDDING I was in heaven.

It is amazing how it seems like yesterday I was traveling to England with my own mother to visit family, the same year Charlie was born. This little lady is KATHRYN. One of my dolls was given to her daughter as a gift. She loved it so much, she thought she should have one made in her likeness so they could play dolls together. Isn't that the sweetest? I even hand beaded this pearl necklace for her. LOVE IT!

The shop is so empty right now. I've been working as swiftly as possible to get some new creations in the shop. Not an easy task when you have two little ones at home wanting to play. I'm hoping to have some new dolls in the shop very soon (along with some other friends).

Taking care of my last few custom orders. These little cuties are high up on my list of 'cutest ones ever'! I've been feeling the itch to create some candy colored hair cuties for some time now. A beautiful array of hair from robin's egg blue to luscious lemon-lime. I'll keep you posted. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend :)

These little girls make me smile!

It's been a very busy couple of months for me. With the school year coming to and end for both my children it's been hard keeping up with all my custom orders. I feel so blessed to have had so many sweet people find my little corner of ETSY.

I'm going to be taking some time off to enjoy my monkeys while they still want to spend time with me :) My shop will re-main open but I will be concentrating on some new designs. Can't wait to share them.

I had to share these. A while back I was asked by a young woman to create three dolls, each in the likeness of her and her sisters. Each sister picked out all the details right down to the little flowers in their hair. All three will be gifts for their mom on Mother's Day.

For all the mom's out there who give everything and ask nothing in return. For the doctors, the nose wipers, the chefs and the taxi drivers... you know who you are. Happy Mothers' Day! xoxo

Awwwww.... love these new little plushies inspired by the kitty love in my life (Lulu) and my daughter who just can't get enough things to cuddle.

I saved the best for last! Sweet dollies in the likeness of my two best friends (aka my sisters, Debbie and Dawn). They are both loving and devoted teachers. Each year their school holds an auction to raise money. These special dolls will join the auction and hopefully go home to a child who will appreciate the wonderful teacher and person they represent. It was such a treat making these :)

I know I'm getting antsy for spring when all I can think of are flowers. We've had an abundance of rain lately, especially for California.

I know I shouldn't complain because we absolutely need it. I have to admit that I'm a sunshine and blue skies kind of gal! Making these pretty little hair clips brings a smile to my face even on the darkest of grey days. I hear more rain is on the way. Don't be surprised if you see lots of these little clippies popping up in my shop again very soon.

As a busy mom, wife, student, designer, etc... I don't get the time I'd like to sit and peruse ETSY like I used to. Each day more and more talented people are opening their own shop. I came across this amazing little shop called BEAD PASSION based in the Phillipines. http://www.etsy.com/shop/beadpassion
I was AMAZED! These are tiny little sculptures (only about an 1" wide and tall) hand made from polymer clay. Can you believe the detail? So sweet. This is a stay at home mom who has taken her passion to an amazing level. All the deliciousness without the calories :) Check out her store for all the other treats she has to offer.

Happy New Year!!!! Wow, it's been a while since I've been on my blog. The holiday months came and went. My ETSY shop was so busy. A little sleep deprived but truly grateful.

Awwww.... who can resist such a sweet little face? This was the last little custom pillow created for 2009! A fellow Etsian found my shop and commissioned this pillow for her darling daughter Channing.

What a wonderful blend of my vintage design and her modern flare. The room (as you can see from the photograph below) had a multitude of colors. The three used the most were a yummy combination of orange, light pink and fuchsia. So there is where it all began. This sweet version of 'Olivia the Owl' is a mix of mod prints and vintage details.

She is the finishing touch to a darling room!
