A Bit of History

To get my creative juices flowing (and maybe yours too)...

So I took a little detour from my day-to-day and drove on down to
Roger's Gardens (In Corona Del Mar)

It truly is one of the most inspiring places to visit this time of
year. I only had about an hour or so, I had to take in all
the beauty is such a short bit of time.

I worked at the store many moons ago so it holds a
very special place in my heart. I still see some familiar faces.

Roger's Gardens is celebrating 50 years, this year. If you get
a little time to yourself and you've never been...try and get there
at least once in your lifetime. Truly a special place.

Finally added the new Big Blossoms to my shop! Loving how they
turned out. These just may have to stay with me for a while.

Happy Wednesday! xx

All In Due Time

This little girl is so colorful!
Kinsey is the artistic one of the bunch.

Lilli is shy and quiet, but you'll always have a
friend when she's around.

Mya is the little adventurer. She doesn't mind getting
her hands dirty or her hair messy!

As I'm staring at my worktable, day in and day out, I constantly
remind myself that finishing projects takes time. Especially when you
are experimenting with lots of extra little details and new dimensions.

I really wanted these girls to be unique. Different from anything I've
created before. Bigger, Better? Maybe! They are definitely
ONE-OF-A-KINDSwith no duplicates ever in sight.

Happy Weekend!

Summer Is On Its Way

Oh MY!!!!
3 months have passed with no blog post. Geez, I've been slacking!

Not intentional of course. Some of you may know that I work a
day job as a Landscape Designer / Horticulturist. With Spring
under my belt, I've FINALLY gotten a grip on managing all
that is MY LIFE!

So excited to show you a 'snippit' of my new girls. They are called
BIG BLOSSOMS and are much larger than my original dolls.
They have been about a year in the working, sad to say. I honestly
think they are going to be worth it. I still have lots of details to work
out but hopefully will have some finished creations to show you soon.

Good bye Spring! Hello Summer!!!

SPRING FEVER!

I have a terrible case of SPRING FEVER! I think the only
cure is a trip to one of my favorite places in this world...

The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens
in San Marino, CA

The wisteria in the Japanese Garden will be blooming soon.

The roses in the Rose Garden should just be leafing out.

The scents are amazing. The sights, breathtaking!

Stroll through the Children's Garden. So many wonderful
things to touch, smell and explore through the eyes
of a child.

And the Cactus Garden should still be in Winter bloom.

I'm going to take a few hours to just wonder, relax and take a
step back from my crazy, busy schedule. If you ever get
the chance, go visit. You won't be sorry.

Just Say It!

It's almost time... candy hearts, chocolate boxes, Hallmark
cards and flowers. Sometimes I wish EVERYDAY was
Valentine's Day!  I think we often forget to stop, take that
moment to say "you are loved'.

So this is a gentle reminder to myself, and all those, who like me
get carried away with the constant craziness we call LIFE.
JUST SAY IT!
However you can, simple or elaborate. Let those around
you know how much you care for them.  We all need
to be reminded.

Happy Hearts Day!

Color Inspiration

COLOR plays a huge role in who I am.

Not only in the garden, but in my children's products,
I design around color and texture.

I thought I'd share with you some gorgeous images
of spring to get your heart skipping a beat.

Counting My Christmas Blessings

The holidays can be a hard time for some.  Remembering
those loved ones who are no longer with us. Missing friends
or family we don't get to spend the holidays with.

Speaking for myself, the struggle between appreciating all that
I have, and wanting more for my children often creates
a little hole in my heart. This year has brought many struggles.

But at the end of the day
I have so many blessings to count.  Life has so many challenges,
but the rewards are abundant.

I hope that this Holiday Season brings much love, joy and laughter
to your life. I hope the fun of spending a little time with a friend, or
reading a book to your child, or decorating a ginger bread house,
reminds you that EACH DAY IS SPECIAL.

Enjoy the season and remember to count
your Christmas blessings!

Last Few Cuties...

Trying to squeeze sewing into my very BUSY, HECTIC, AND
OFTEN CRAZY schedule has been a bit tough.
Obviously I've been MIA from my blog since the end of October.
THESE ARE SOME GIRLS FROM THE LAST MONTH!

It's nearly December now, Christmas is just around the corner.
Today as the clouds cover the sky, I'm taking the opportunity to
work on the last three custom dolls of this holiday season.

I'm going to take a deep breath and count my blessings.
I hope you can do the same.

Happy Friday!

As the holidays rapidly approach I've been keeping both
my fingers and sewing machine quite busy.

Here's a recap of the last few CUSTOM CUTIES that
made their way home.

I hope your day is filled with sunshine and laughter.

Snuggle Bugs

Remember this little lady?
Well, this is how my little ladies turned out.

I should've called them SNUGGLE BUGS!
Wow...I've been a little behind on posting pictures. These
were some little cuties specially made for a sweet friend
of mine.  I was very happy with the end result.

I've been spending a lot of extra time in the garden these past
few weeks.  I took a job with a local nursery. It's been a
wonderful new adventure for me. Lots of twists and turns.

Sadly, it won't leave as much time as I'd like for creating.
I'll do my best to keep up. I'm still taking custom orders for
the holidays and plugging away.

It's back to the nursery in the morning where I can spy
on some real ladybugs.
